I’m very pleased to report that the Disney Vacation Club’s Bay Lake Tower Minisite, which I was one of the lead flash designers, won an Addy and was an official Webby Honoree.
An ADDY is the award from the American Advertising Federation, a national blue chip advertising trade association. It’s a pretty prestigious award as competitions go, and one we targeted to try and win this year.
It was also recognized as an Official Honoree distinction in the Tourism category in The 13th Annual Webby Awards.
“The Webby Awards are the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, the Webbys are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-member body of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities.”
The minisite was created to introduce Disney Vacation Club Prospects and Members to the new Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Orlando, Florida. The villas are the closest accommodations to the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, just walking distance away from the front entrance to the Park. The minisite features a magical 360 degree tour of the new room interiors complete with Imagineer insights on the building of the Resort. The site also features a slideshow of property attractions including a sky-bridge to the Contemporary Hotel, new Member Lounge and rooftop fireworks viewing area, as well as dining and shopping attractions. Site guests may also view a video tour of the Resort, enjoy an archival news clip offering a glimpse into Disney’s vision in building the Contemporary Hotel and make use of an interactive property map showing locations and attractions on or nearby the property.
